What is the world comin too ???  Salads are a-changin . . . An article in Tuesday's Toledo Blade reported on a salad-a-thon event.  Even though I have been eatin a lot of salads the last couple years, no informed me of any salad-a-thon events.  The article said that 20 people created a salad for people to sample.  Two of the salads included chopped up Snicker bars.  They also had varying amounts of powdered sugar, peanuts, butter, Cool Whip, etc.  A lot of people eat salads to to avoid calories and fill themselves up at the same time.  Seems to me that these two salads aren't gonna help their situation.  I eat lot of salads for those reasons and the fact that they don't mess with my blood sugar readings.  Probably only a matter of time before some of the fast food restaurants start offering Snickerfied salads with a packet of Cool Whip for the dressing . . .

Talking about fast food restaurants, McDonalds has been topped by Subway.  I heard a newscast on  the radio recently that Subway has more restaurants worldwide than anyone . . . including McDonald's.  Think about it . . . Subways are everywhere, in gas stations, convenience stores, locally there is one in Walmart . . .   Like I was sayin, 'What is the world comin to????'

After drivin my Ford Ranger for the last 3-1/2 yrs., I noticed that I had a cigarette lighter.  I've noticed that knob every now and then, but never really investigated till a couple days ago.  If I have an ash tray, I haven't found it.  I made it a point to look for it.  Wonder what the reasoning was putting in a lighter, but no ash tray???  Wonder why I really never noticed  that knob before now . . .

Last weekend, I had a lady from Italy email me sayin that she hadn't received her cookie cutter set.  It had been about a month, so I figgered they were lost in the mail.  Having packages delayed at the border isn't all that unusual.  Sometimes they eventually show up and sometimes they don't.  Refunded her money even though I'm not convinced I'm responsible for the loss.  A couple days later, the same lady emailed thanking me for the refund but she really needed and wanted the cookie cutters.  Also asked about orderin another set.  I said she could but there would be no refund if they didn't show up in her mailbox.  Haven't heard from her since.  Wonder if the original set showed up or if she was up to something and changed her mind when I said there would be no second refund.

Went to a little lumber yard just across the state line into Indiana a couple days ago.  Since the weather seems to be gettin better, I'm gonna get the urge to work in the garage soon.  Picked up some hickory and butternut to finish a couple unfinished projects when the weather does get warm enough to keep my tender fingers from freezin.

Powers Church

On the way I stopped and shot a few frames of this church.  It is known as the Powers Church.  It was built in 1876.  Last winter there was a lengthy new article about the history of the building.  It was abandoned for too many years and feel into disrepair.  A few years ago a group decided to restore it.  Not sure how far the restoration has progressed, but I do recall the article saying services are held in the building a couple times a year.  It is a very picturesque church on a small hill.  Just south it, is the Powers cemetary.  I'd love to be in the area with my camera on a blue-sky, sunny day when things are greening up . . .
