Since we lost 2 1/2 days of mowin time this week and gained a bit over 3" of rain, I mowed for a while this mornin with the small Toro. I'm callin a 60 inch mower small. Guess it is what ya get used to. The grass was long and wet. Looked like steam was comin out the chute with the grass. The steam was water. I was able to see through my glasses but they were pretty dirty due to the grassy mist in the air. It was chilly this AM, but I trusted the weather report and didn't dress warm enough. After 3 hrs., I was on the verge of some serious shiverin. The long, hot shower I took when I got home saved me . . . till next time. Boss said to stay home tomorrow if it rains like a half inch tonight and we'll play Monday 'by ear." It just started rainin here a few minutes ago, so . . .
I'm pretty sure that if we were in the city, they would 'tag' places on the course for excessively long grass. Like to see the city try to mow it. I've only worked there 5-6 summers, but this is the most water I've seen on the course for such a long time. Still have water laying on some of the fairways. They tried to mow fairways this AM but gave up. It was a member-guest golf day and the course was open, but carts weren't allowed. More lost revenue.
So after I got warmed up, I went to Toledo thinking today was Flower Day at the Farmer's Market. Flower Day is tomorrow. So, it looks like I missed it this year
I think the Maumee was over US 24 near Grand Rapids, because they detoured traffic to the south side of the river. There are a couple campgrounds on that side. I cannot believe how many people left their camp trailers set. The water was close to half way up on some of them. Wonder how much more it would take to float them away. I even saw a couple motor homes in water. What are people thinkin?????
