Had a light sprinkle around noon, then the sun came out. The boss called to tell me to come to work tomorrow at the regular time because the tournament had been cancelled. The yard dried off quick, so I mowed the front yard.
Around 1:30 the sky clouded up. It wasn't anywhere near as menacing as yesterday afternoon.
Around 2 PM it started in. When the rain slowed up just after 2:30, I checked the rain gauge. Just over an inch.
Rain drops bouncin on the drive.
The storm drain in the street was takin in lots of water.
When it comes down fast, the street in front of my house floods. Probably because all the water comes here to cross the street and go to the big drainage ditch between the houses across the street, then on to the retention pond.
When the street is backed up, the drain in my backyard is backed up also. It has been worse other times. That last row of retaining wall blocks have been underwater a couple times.
When the kids got home from school they had a great time riding their bikes through the water. Then all of a sudden, just like all the other times, the water is gone in 10 minutes. It is like someone pulls the plug.
Been rainin off and on all afternoon. Last time I checked my gauge was up to 1.4". Had 1.47 all of yesterday. Weather.com said around a half inch first thing this morning. Then they backed off to a quarter inch around noon. Now they aren't giving any expected totals . . . do you blame them???
Did I say the boss said to come in tomorrow unless we get a couple more inches. Neither one of us at the time thought there was gonna be anything like this. Since I'm probably at 1.5 or more by now, I'm kinda expectin another phone call.
