I was mowin the rough near the #5 green this PM, when I spotted this hawk keepin an eye on things. He sat there for quite a while. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get quite a bit of detail with my 'snapshot' camera. Been nice if I would have had my good camera. Haven't seen any blue birds or herons this yr. In past years, a couple herons spent quite a bit of time around the ponds. By the middle of next month, the swallows will pretty much be gone. Fall is on its way . . .
On the way in this mornin, the radio people were commenting on what a great sunrise we were goin to have. I was wonderin how one could know what kind of sunrise we were goin to have . . . As I was goin out to mow, I was decided the sunrise was ok, but nothin on the special side. Then a flock of geese flew by a pink cloud. Now that would have made an outstanding picture. But like I'm always sayin, ya got have your camera out and ready to go to get pics like that . . .
The other big news of my week is that I have almost 2 full days mowin with the big Toro, the rough mower . . . and I'm still fascinated with the 11 ft. swath and how little time it takes to mow areas. It rides much better than the smaller mower. It was 7 wks. ago last Monday that it went down. When everything goes right, it takes me about 27-28 hrs. to mow the complete rough. That would leave me Fridays to go garage salin, something I haven't done since sometime in May. Since I've mowed fairways the last couple Mondays, I'm thinkin maybe that is what I'm gonna be mowin on Mondays instead of the rough. Next Monday will tell.
It took some thinkin and payin close attention to mow yesterday mornin. There were two tournaments teein off at 8. One was the Boy's Junior District Championship and the other was the Girl's Junior District Championship. Since I started mowin just after 6, I had a couple hrs. headstart. It was a shotgun start for both tournaments. I had to keep ahead of the boys till they caught up with me, then I had to find the last flight of girl and stay behind them. In a tournament the course has to be in the same condition for everyone. There was a gap tween the two tournaments, so I was ok. They were pretty well finished by noon anyway.
I think that all I hafta worry about tomorrow is the possibility of rain gettin my way. Percentages are pretty high tonight and all day tomorrow. We could use a good amount.
