Practically Nothin . . .

I am sort of garage "saled out."  Nine or ten sales last Friday had nothing.  The Hamilton Lake IN community sales on Saturday weren't much better.  I think I stopped at around 55 sales there and made two purchases . . . Well three, if you count the chocolate chip cookie I bought from the little girl who was very concerned that no one was buying her cookies or lemonade at 8 in the morning.  Cost me 25 cents, but I got a $25 smile and the cookie.  It was like all the decent stuff has been sold.  Seems like the thrift stores have not had anything new for weeks.

One of my Saturday purchases returned $16.  It was this Pyrex Flame Ware tea pot.  I've purchased several pieces of Flame Ware this year.  Don't recall ever seeing Flame Ware in past years.  The lady let me have it for $4 instead of $5.  Then she began asking me all kinds of questions about it.  I told here I thought I would get $15-$20 on eBay.  I would hafta see what they are going for before setting a price.

At another sale, I spotted a large can of red bricks.  I'm thinkin they were "pre-Lego."  I offered a buck off the asking price, but the lady turned me down.  I was ready to buy them anyway till she started givin me heck for askin.  It must have been her first garage sale.  People are gonna haggle with ya.  Since it was a rather drawn out heck, she lost a sale.  I'm sure she eventually sold them, but it wasn't to me.  It was kinda like that guy givin people heck for parking in the grass along the street in front of his house, while having a garage sale at Merry Lake.

I spotted this at one of the Edon sales about a week ago.  It looked interesting and it was only 50 cents.
Some research told me it was a Randotti 817 skull.  They were sold at Disneyland and Disney World during the '60's, '70's & '80's.  They also glow in the dark.  They were going for up to $60 on eBay, depending on condition.  Mine glowed very faintly in the dark, was age discolored and had several chips.  Last Friday, I listed it for $10.  Then I went to the mailbox.  When I got back, it was sold to someone in Tokyo.  One of the quickest sales I've made in a long time.  Oh, yeah . . . he paid almost $35 S&H.  If they want it bad enough, they will pay no matter what the cost!

This weekend there are two community wide garage sales.  I will probably go to one of them and hopefully find more stuff than last week.
