This one was way out in the country. With the wind whistlin through that barn, it was COLD!! There were only two things I was interested in. One being a desk top type phone with a crank. They used those back in the days of party lines. The other was a Drip O Lator aluminum coffee pot. I had never seen this style. It had a lot of curves instead of straight sides. I glanced through over 800 eBay photos when I got home and found only one. Would have liked to have both items, but I went back to the other auction.
This auction had several boxes I wanted. There were two unopened plastic models of Star Trek ships. One went for $25 and the other $30. I really need to get a smart phone so I can check things out online. I watched probably a half dozen people doing that. There was a lot of stuff at this auction. They had two lines going. Then for some reason, they guy selling my line stopped and never came back. I waited around another hour, gave up and went home. So I came home with nothing.
If one is observant, one can spot all sorts of things in these little towns around here . . . and probably in towns everywhere else. This guy had a rusty farm elevator parked in the driveway behind his house. A few blocks over, I spotted an old Allis-Chalmers tractor parked in the backyard of another house, but wasn't able to get my camera on it. Both of these houses were in town.
There were plenty of those dreaded, little, blue-haired ladies at the second auction. They got in everyone's way the best they could. Some people have a strong need to make their presence felt.
Maybe I'll have better auction luck this coming week.
