Ney High School -- R.I.P.
The Washington Twp. School (AKA Ney High School) is being torn down. It was built to combine several one room schools in the immediate area. I don't know the exact year that it opened. It was consolidated into the Central Local School District (Fairview High School) in the mid 1960's. I believe elementary classes were held there till the mid 1970's. It was used for non educational purposes for several years and has stood abandoned for many years. Hundreds, possibly thousands of young people spent time there. My dad was one of them. He graduated from Ney High School in 1942. From there he joined the war effort as a Navy Sea Bee and served most of his time in the South Pacific.
