This Week In Review

Monday of this past week was disgusting. Seriously windy, cold, on & off drizzly, etc. Whenever the drizzle got heavy enough to go in, it stopped as I pulled into the barn. When a very strong gust went through, blowing twigs & small limbs off trees, while it was drizzling, I said to myself, "why am I out here?" I went home shortly after that. Stopped at the post office on the way home. Had a couple packages going to Canada. My least favorite clerk informed he was was definitely retiring in 4 weeks. That wasn't disgusting, that was good news. From there I went to Wendy's for a taco salad. I eat salads many times each week. I get the mandarine salad in warm weather and the taco salad when it is cold, drizzly and disgusting. Would you believe that they were out of chili?? Since my favorite order taker was working, I gave her a bit of a hard time, asking her if this was Wendy's, etc. She said they were out of some of the ingredients and the next delivery was around 2:30 that PM. I had to get the mandarine salad.

The boss said if it was still windy, etc., to take Tuesday off. Didn't have to tell me twice. The wind was blowing pretty good, so I slept in.

Wednesday was cold & drizzly again. I got about as cold as I have ever been on the mower. The last couple hrs were comfortable after the temperature got into the mid 50's. Everybody was cold. Looking at the weather forecast, we needed to get certain things done or we are gonna have a big mess. We are always looking at the radar and weather reports on the internet.

Yesterday was delayed by a heavy frost. A heavy, patchy fog rolled in just before sunrise. I punched in around 9:30. I mowed several swaths around the fairways and tees that had not been mowed this week, then I went back to mowing areas. Report for Friday wasn't good. I call "rimming the fairways" defensive mowing.

Got just over an inch of rain overnight and it is still drizzling pretty good. Not going in unless they call me, which I don't think will happen. But if the sun comes out in the next hour, I will probably get to feelin guilty and call them.

Back in my Windows 98 days, I used to play a lot of Tetris. I never really tried to find Tetris games that were compatible with the newer versions of Windows. I started playing free cell solitare, which I'm pretty sure that I'm addicted to. That is a topic for another blog post. Anyway I came across this video of human tetris. Click HERE to see it -- and you think I have too much time playing solitare - I've played approximately 20,486 games, winning 10,364 times.

Lost out on another award winning photo by a second or two. We have a black & white cat at the shop. I don't think she has a name. She was a stray and the boss brought her to the shop. She has her preferences on the brand of cat food she gets. Someone brought in some Dollar Store 'kibble.' She doesn't care for it at all. Sometimes she will sit beside her bowl of Dollar Store kibble and meow very loud and sharp at anyone walking past. Other times she just sort of 'stomps' around the shop grumblin in meow at anyone who is there to listen. She prefers Meow Mix. During the frost delay yesterday, someone went to town to get misc supplies. He came back with a bag of Meow Mix. There is an old Meow Mix plastic bucket and he emptied the bag into the bucket. The bucket was heaped up a bit and the cat went over to help herself. I thought that would make a good pic, and got my camera from the truck. I was focusing in and was about to push the button when she decided she had enough an came over to me stretched and rubbed against my leg. I seem to one of her favorites, but I'm not sure did she did what she did cause she likes me, if you know what I mean . . .
