Three days of garage sales . . . three on Thursday, two on Friday and two on Saturday. Spent more on a weekend of garage sales than I have in a long time.
There were two advertised sales in the western part of the county on Thursday. On the way I saw a sign and stopped at an unadvertised one. It was a semi-permanent garage sale situation. This one had some good stuff for a change. The guy followed me around tryin to sell me everything. After I asked the price of the same item the third time, he left me alone. Picked up some ball bats, Pyrex and an aluminum skillet. My gps took me to the next sale which was in an area I had never been through.
I came upon this windmill. This one was a lot bigger than the 'residential size' windmills that are poppin up here and there. Never saw one that wasn't on a pole before. Got me to thinkin about how long it takes to pay for something that size. I'm thinkin this one cost a lot more than the residential sized windmills. It would be kinda neat to have free electricity, but when ya gotta payout 10-20 grand or more and wait who knows how many years to the free electricity, the novelty wears off.
Anyway, I found the garage sale and made a purchase I wish I had not made. It was a pyrex butter dish exactly like the one I had trouble sellin several yrs ago. I thought this one was a different pattern, but it was the same. The third sale of the day was a 'zero' for me.
Friday was a 8 AM and a 9 AM sale. Both were in Bryan. I wasn't sure exactly where the 8 AM sale was, so I used my gps to find it. I think my gps was gettin even with me. It took me up and down several streets that weren't necessary to get me to the sale. The week before I used my gps the same way cause I wasn't positive about the location. I figgered the gps would save me time. Anyway, I took a street parallel to the one the gps wanted me to take. It kept tellin my to turn right at all the intersections. That voice was starting to sound irritated a few blocks before I finally did turn right. Didn't think those things had that kind of memory, but apparently they do. Wasn't anything at that sale, so I headed off to the 9 AM sale. It was a church rummage sale. Usually they aren't that good, but this one had my kind of stuff. I had a major brain block. If ya see something ya like take it with ya, cause if ya don't, it ain't gonna be there when ya come back for it. I didn't take the can of Playskool Bricks with me and someone else had picked them up when I went back for 'em. The lady in front of me took the little cast iron skillet that I wanted to look at. She looked like she knew how to use it . . . I'm not talkin kitchen use, if ya catch my drift . . . I bought some N-gauge train cars. After some research I think they were a Reader's Digest give away. Haven't had any trains cars of any size for a long time.
Saturday's sales were a complete zero. Should've stayed in bed.
