Merry Lake Community Garage Sales . . .

Yesterday was the Annual Merry Lake Community Garage Sale.  Merry Lake is almost straight north of me, just across the Michigan state line.  I got there at 8 AM and was on my way home before 11 AM.  I stopped at 59 sales . . . All but 3 or 4 were at Merry Lake.  I don't mosey around at the community sales.  I like em cause there are a lot of sales in a small area.

Everybody and their cousin's aunt and uncle were there . . .  I asked about that one . . . Traffic, vehicle and pedestrian, was heavy.  It was like rush hour in those pics of the streets of New Deli or Bejing.  People and cars going and parking anywhere, everywhere, where ever and in whatever direction they felt like.  With cars parked on both sides of the narrow roads, there was more than one stand off.  I even saw a couple Amish horse and buggies.  I always take the MINI Cooper to these sales.  I can squeeze into parking spots and through traffic easier than with the Ranger. My lovely and talented red-headed, mail deliverin cousin (still makin me say all that) came to mind while I was there . . . I was thinkin that deliverin mail would not be easy or quick today . . .

I did ok.  Came home with 7 ball gloves.  I'm gonna keep em till early next spring for eBay.  I had a around a dozen from last summer's garage sales and sold em all in March. Four of them are adult sized gloves.  Good money potential there !!

Most of the time, people holding the garage sale are very nice.  A couple people wanted to talk.  I wanted to get to the next sale, but I talked.  What ya gonna do??  At another, a sweet looking, little blued haired grandmotherly type had a Wearever oval roasting pan on the table with no price.  Said she wanted a quarter for it and the stack of pans next to it.  Just wanted them out of there . . .  I looked through the stack seein nothing that interested me . . .  even for the quarter . . . One has to have pre-set limits when going to these sales.  Decided to make an offer.  I offered her a quarter for the roasting pan and another quarter if she didn't make me take the other stack.   I know from previous run-ins and dealings, that these little blue haired types are sometimes meaner and tougher to deal with than they look !!!  I had my 2 quarters in my sweaty little palm in front of her nose as she sad, 'You're a hard man, to deal with, but I take your quarters . . . you little booger!!'  Sometimes ya hafta take the verbal abuse to get your price.  I think we were both happy . . . I got my roaster without that stack of pans and she had the potential for a total of 3 quarters instead of one for all that stuff . . . and she already had 2 quarters in her pocket.  Checked that roaster on eBay when I got home and the last one for $15.  I'll be happy with double figgers.  Old Wearever stuff always sells well.

At another sale a guy had 4 terrier type pups.  Three of them were sitting/lying like dogs are supposed to.  The fourth sat on his rear like a prairie dog.  The guy said he sits like that a lot.  I suspect those terriers have a bit of prairie dog in them.

clothes rack

At one of the sales, I noticed these clothes hangin on the tree branch.  It was like the tree decided to grow that branch at the right height and angle for the sale.

Lots of interesting things out there if ya are lookin . . .
