Hot Week Is Over . . . For Me . . .

After perusing the past week's weather predictions, I found my self dreading this past week BIGTIME and I mean BIGTIME!!!  Guest-Member weekend started this mornin at 8:30 with a scramble.  Guest-Member at any country club is a really big deal.  Super hot, humid weather didn't help with gettin stuff done.  Tryin to mow the rough with a 72 inch trim mower without a canopy wasn't a positive either.  Workin 5 hours days, except for Wednesday, when it clouded over and I mowed nearly a full day, wasn't plus either.  But enough of the rough has died out and I got nearly everything mowed with a 3 and a half hr. burst of mowin early this AM.  Best part is that they don't want to see me till Monday.  There will be some extra evening mowin, etc. goin on without me.

Yesterday was a 'killer' out there and I think maybe the heat got to me a bit.  Survived till 11, which was everyone's goal.  Felt 'weaked out' when I got home.  First day I've felt that way.  The highest temp for Bryan that I saw on weather.com was 101 with a 111 heat index.  Saw a 106 on my thermometer, but it is in the sun.  It could always be worse.  Think about the people who stand on asphalt all day direting traffic or the guys workin on the asphalt spreader in weather like this.  Now that is hot work !!

The tv news has a short story about the heat in Omaha a couple evenings ago.  It seems they were putting ice in the city pools.  I heard 2 tons mentioned.  Didn't catch if that was per pool or all the pools combined.  Yesterday, the Weather Channel showed a video of a Minneapolis tv station baking cookies in a car parked in the sun.  Don't know why they didn't fry eggs on the sidewalks.

Lynn, our legendary mechanic, had the rough mower runnin when I finished the AM.  It would be great to be able to use it sometime soon.  Cuts an eleven foot swath which means I can get back to cuttin the entire rough in about 3 1/2 days, something I haven't been able to do yet this year.  It also has a canopy to shield me from the sun, which makes a big difference.  The engine seems to throw a lot of heat on me though.  I'm gonna rig up a foam board heat shield.  That should make some difference.  Wonder why I don't feel any heat when I'm mowin in the cold . . . .
