Fog was predicted for this morning and it was quite thick by the time I got to the golf course.
It was a very colorful, foggy sunrise. By time I got my camera out, the color was starting to fade. Ya gotta be lucky or ready and waiting to get a sunrise at it's colorful peak. I wasn't ready or lucky this morning. For some reason I haven't been motivated to take many pics of anything this summer. I'm thinkin maybe it is the weather and the fact that the little mower I've been using is wearing me out. That should change soon. We got all the parts for the big mower except for the intake gasket. Lynn, our legendary mechanic, started re-assembling the engine this PM. Everyone, including Lynn, is hoping he remembers how it goes back together. Engine rebuilding isn't something he does. Its a 4 cylinder Peugot diesel. Probably at least 35 hp.
I think I'm ramblin again . . . Anyway I started mowin shortly after 6 AM tryin to get as much done before I get 'cooked out.'
This is what it looked like till the sky cleared out and the sun made its appearance. This happened shortly after 9 and it started gettin hot and I mean hot! I started wonderin if I was gonna make it to 11. I can handle heat pretty good and most days I can handle bumpy mowin. I just can't handle both at the same time. But then, I rarely have to deal with heat and humidity like this week. Anyway, after a few minutes, the sky clouded over and the temperature cooled enough to be hot, humid, but comfortably bearable. The air was heavy and thick but all I had to contend with was the rough ride. Went in at 11 for lunch and since there was no blue sky anywhere, I kept mowin. The sky started clearin just after 1:30 and it got really hot quick and I called it a day. I was within 20 minutes of a full day.
Today is the first day of the 'Excessive Heat Warning.' We've had heat advisories and an Excessive Heat Watch since Sunday. I was fortunate to get a near full day in. It is 6:15 at the moment, 97 degrees, 49% humidity, dew point of 74 degrees for a 106 heat index at the moment. Glad the serious heat of the day held off. Weeks like this week is why I'm not livin in the south.
One of the houses across the street is gettin a new roof. Monday, the crew worked all day. Wimpy me came home at noon. Yesterday they were quittin when I got home just before noon. This AM when I was leavin around 5:45 they were here fumblin around in the dark, gettin their tools out. Have not idea when they quit today. With the cloud cover, I would think they would have worked close to a full day. But a full day for roofers is usually when they get too tired to work or it gets too hot.
