The Week In Review . . .

An update on Tuesday's storm damage.  I counted 9 70' broken poles.  They were holding the 69 KV lines feeding Bryan.  The news report made it sound like it was a somewhat complicated task re-routing power into Bryan.  The power was only out 2 hrs at my house.

One morning this week I saw 6 geese running in a straight line as fast as they could along the creek to a pond.  Mom & dad were leading and bringin up the rear with the 4 kids in the middle.  Have no idea why they didn't just fly to the pond.  The kids looked like they had their 'grownup' feathers.  One raised his wings a bit, but decided to stay on the ground.  Never noticed running geese before.  Workin out for the Canadian Goose Olympics ?????

It's gettin bad when I find myself dreamin about the good times with the rough mower . . . The rough mower has been down 2 wks. and I really don't expect it up and usable for another 2 wks.  When the grass is bein reasonable and the weather cooperates, it takes me about 3 1/2 days to get the rough mowed.  Then I'm off for 3 1/2 days.  Plenty of time for my delicate body to recuperate.  There is a reason they call it the rough . . .   Those were the 'good times' I was dreamin about.  Since the rough mower has been kaput, I'm usin the little Toro, which is a trim mower.  It rides a lot rougher because it is a lot smaller.  Only cuts a 6' swath compared to the 11' swath the big one cuts.  That means I been mowin 7-8 hrs 5 days per week and still not gettin done.  Not much time for my delicate body to recuperate.  I'm still tired from last week.  I will survive, but it is gettin old bein so tired that I'm goin to bed around 8-8:30.

Thursday and Friday was very disgusting!!  Every so often it would start rainin a few minutes. . . a real fine mist . . . then it would stop.  A few times it rained like that so long or come down a bit harder that I would decide to go for cover and wait it out.  Usually before I got half way to where I was headed, it stopped.  One time the sun came out real sudden like.  Another time, it rained like that for so long that the boss came out with the truck to pick me up.  I asked him if it was 'real' this time.  Said he didn't know, but was in the area and decided to bring me in.  At least it rained a few minutes after we got back to the shop.

3.21 gas

Yesterday gas in Bryan was $3.23.  Today it is $3.21.  Where and when is it gonna stop ????????

While I'm on Circle K, I think it was the first day gas was 3.23,  I pulled in to the parking lot and found myself participating in an almost complete gridlock situation.  No one could move anywhere . . . The only thing I could do was back out into a very busy street.  Finally someone made the right move and traffic started flowin in and out of the lot again.  I once told a deputy gettin coffee that this is the place to practice directing traffic.  The lot was in a near gridlock situation that day too.  He kinda agreed with me.

Lake Seneca had their community garage sale yesterday.  I was too tired to go, but I went anyway.  There wasn't anything for me at all.  I only picked up 3 or 4 items while I was there.  At one sale I picked up a cast aluminum pan to check it out.  A little Amish boy probably 6 or 7 came over and watched me very carefully.  He didn't say anything, so I didn't either.  Probably checkin out how the expert looks things over.  At another sale, a lady came over to me all excited, sayin that she used to have a MINI Cooper and really misses it.  She had an old MG convertible sitting there for sale and offered to trade me even up.  I'm definitely not interested in a convertible of any kind.  Then she said she had another MG somewhere and offered both of them for my MINI.  I told her that I liked my MINI and was gonna keep it a while longer.  Ya never know what's gonna happen at garage sales . . .

Tomorrow, I get to mow a couple hours, then go to the dentist, come back and mow till the golf outting starts or it starts stormin.  Strong possibility of strong storms in the area tomorrow PM.
