For whatever reason, the geese don't like to fly much this time of summer. When they do fly, it is close to the ground. I was mowin near a pond this AM and around a group of trees came 4 low flyin geese . . . maybe 10 ft off the ground. Didn't know if I should duck (unintended pun or whatever it is called) or what . . . Could've been comin in on a low level bombin run for all I know . . . That happened to me once. The missed me, but hit my mower . . . They flew a low level circle over the pond and landed without incident . . . to them or me . . .
Anyway, late this AM, I found myself on the fairway mower, mowin, guess what . . . fairways. Mowed fairways all day yesterday . . .
This is what it looks like mowin fairways. That stripe is actually straight except for the far end . . . honest . . . There is a hump where it looks crooked. Gotta look a the stripes head on to see if they are actually straight. Worked about 20 hrs this week and only about 7 on the rough mower. I'm likin the change. The fairways are smooth . . . Kinda like sittin in your Lazy Boy, mowing, compared to what I'm used to. At the other golf course I mowed fairways 3 times each week. I got pretty good holding straight lines with my mower. Took a while, but it is comin back to me. Today's stripes were consistently straighter and easier accomplish than yesterday. I'll hopin I get to mow the rest of the fairways tomorrow, so maybe I'll be able to do it without thinkin about it . . . just like I used to . . .
And now back to the geese. I noticed a big gaggle of geese gathered at the pond tween 11 & 6 greens. Apparently one of them decided to take a stroll over to the pond by the 7 & 9 greens. Once they get organized they almost always walk single file. I counted over 50 before I lost count.
Last I saw them, they were walkin single file . . . and I'm talkin a looong single file . . . down the middle of the 7 fairway.
